ASES

Welcome to San Diego Renewable Energy Society (SDRES) - chapter of American Solar Energy Society (ASES).

If we had a choice we would not generate electricity and power automobiles using materials that are in limited supply and one day will be exhausted, and which cause environmental pollution. We do have a choice: there are several RENEWABLE sources of energy like sun and wind that are never depleted and do not harm our environment.

While fossil energy costs are rising and becoming increasingly volatile, renewable energy costs are decreasing. Our mission is to promote commercialization of renewable energy in order to facilitate its use in your homes and commercial buildings.

Announcements

(Dec9/2009) Now, homeowners in unincorporated areas of San Diego County will be able to participate in a pilot program that offers long-term financing for rooftop solar energy systems. This is a significant step forward in fostering acceptance of renewable energy in San Diego County since it will spark investment in home solar-energy systems by attaching the cost to annual property tax bills. This effectively removes the first cost barrier and also removes the issue of "what happens if I move in less than 20 years". The payback on the solar system goes with house and the next owner will get both renewable energy and continue to pay the up-front loan back. Read more
