SD
Renewable Energy Society’s next installment in its ongoing
series on renewable technologies is aimed at hydrogen energy.
We are happy to present Joe
Bessler, CEO of Silverwood Energy,
who will describe the state
of art of fuel cells
at the SD Renewable Energy Society’s April 9 program.
Since Silverwood Energy has also installed over 8MW of
PV, they would be most appropriate to ask when splitting water
into hydrogen with renewable energy might become cost
effective. Mr. Bessler’s talk will focus on why the
natural gas/methane reformer process is appropriate as a
current technology today for combined heat and power fuel cell
plants. He’ll describe the 1.5MW system they installed
at the Sheraton Harbor Island Hotel, and will address general
cost effectiveness, carbon footprint, and uses for the 1200˚F
waste heat.
Is there a role for hydrogen in San
Diego’s future? What are the hurdles for widespread use
in fuel cell vehicles?
Come to the SDRES April 9 program
at the California Center for Sustainable Energy, at 8690 Balboa
Avenue, Suite 100. The program is from 7pm to 9pm.
